NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police have arrested two suspects in a Marine's stabbing death in the French Quarter in October.
Police spokeswoman Shereese Harper says 37-year-old Melvin Clay and 21-year-old Helaina Amrine were arrested late Thursday about a block from the scene of the Oct. 31 killing.
Police said that after leaving a Marine ball, Sgt. Ryan Lekosky was stabbed after a verbal altercation with a man who was harassing pedestrians, including Lekosky's wife. He later died at a hospital. Lekosky had survived duty in Iraq.
Police said Clay was booked with second-degree murder, while Amrine was booked with accessory after the fact.
