JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the theft of a chalice valued at $10,000 from a church at Camp Lejeune.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reports that the communion chalice was discovered missing from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church between May 26 and June 1.

NCIS supervisory agent Tony Bain said the agency is asking for the public’s help.

Bain said the NCIS is offering up to a $2,500 reward for information that results in an arrest or recovery of the chalice.
