Army announces one-star selections

Several Army colonels have been selected to receive their first star, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

The officers nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general are:

• Col. Carl A. Alex, deputy commander (support), 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, N.Y.

• Col. Christopher F. Bentley, commandant, U.S. Army Field Artillery School, U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence, Fort Sill, Okla.

• Col. James R. Blackburn, assistant deputy director, operations, J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

• Col. Willard M. Burleson III, deputy commander, 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

• Col. Christopher G. Cavoli, director, chief of staff, Army Coordination Group, Office of the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

• Col. Paul A. Chamberlain, executive officer to the assistant secretary of the Army (financial management and comptroller), Washington, D.C.

• Col. William E. Cole, director, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, D.C.

• Col. Richard B. Dix, executive officer to the deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

• Col. Jeffrey A. Farnsworth, most recently chief, space capabilities integration, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

• Col. Bryan P. Fenton, director of operations, Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

• Col. Patricia A. Frost, assistant chief of staff, G-3, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

• Col. Jeffrey A. Gabbert, chief of staff, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, D.C.

• Col. Douglas M. Gabram, most recently deputy commander, U.S. Army Aviation Center, Fort Rucker, Ala.
