PASADENA, CALIF. — Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged three men in the death of a Marine reservist who died after a fight outside a restaurant in a popular shopping and dining district in Pasadena.
Video of the incident caught by a dashboard camera and released Wednesday shows 25-year-old Joshua Martinez standing among several men in a dispute on the sidewalk outside IX Tapa Cantina in Old Pasadena early Monday. Martinez takes a punch then falls motionless into the gutter.
Martinez became comatose, suffered brain damage and died at a hospital.
On Wednesday, 24-year-old Jonas Ramos and 21-year-old Angel Moroyoqui pleaded not guilty to assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury.
Fernando Ramirez, 25, was charged with the same count and another of involuntary manslaughter. He has yet to be arraigned.
