DRAPER, UTAH — About 100 members of the Utah National Guard are heading to Colorado to help with rebuilding efforts after massive flooding in the state.

The members of the Guard’s 1457th Engineer Battalion were set to leave Thursday to transport vehicles and equipment to flood areas.

Guard officials say members of the battalion plan to drop off the items and return to Utah while they wait out a possible government shutdown.

They say they hope to return to Colorado in early October and stay there for at least two weeks while they remove debris and clear roads in Boulder and Larimer Counties.
