Schools for military children operated by the Department of Defense Education Activity will be open on Tuesday, regardless of whether the government shuts down.
All personnel at the school and district levels are exempt from furloughs that would be enforced if Congress can’t come up with a solution to continue funding the government by midnight tonight.
Schools will operate on a normal schedule and scheduled student activities, such as sports games, will continue, according to DoDEA’s website.
While most area and headquarters personnel will be subject to the furloughs, officials have identified limited key personnel who would be exempted to provide for essential operation.
