Fort Hood deaths likely a murder suicide

The man and two children who were found dead Tuesday in an on-post residence at Fort Hood, Texas, are believed to have died in a murder-suicide, officials said Wednesday.

Special agents from U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command continue to investigate the deaths, but “early indications are the deaths are possibly the result of a tragic murder-suicide involving the husband and the two children,” according to a statement from CID.

The man, who was 43, was married to a soldier who had recently returned from an overseas deployment, according to CID. The two children were the couple’s daughters; they were nine and four years old, according to CID.

The bodies were found Tuesday morning in the soldier’s quarters in the Pershing Park neighborhood on Fort Hood.

A final determination in the case is still pending as the investigation continues, according to CID. Officials did not release the names of the dead or the soldier.
