An Air Force Reserve major stationed at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., was arrested on achild pornography charge while attending a national security course at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., officials said.

Maj. David Riley had several online conversations with an undercover detective from Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department after responding to a Craigslist advertisement posted by a joint police-FBI task force, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

On Dec. 10, Riley sent the undercover detective an email saying he was “looking for other pervs in the area” during his Jan. 27 to Feb. 7 trip to Washington, the complaint says. He also allegedly told the detective that he had sexually abused the daughter of a previous girlfriend.

The undercover detective pretended to have a small daughter, whom Riley expressed an interest in abusing, the complaint says. Riley also sent the detective pornographic images of children, according to the complaint.

Riley is charged with distribution of child pornography, which carries a sentence of between five and 20 years in prison, FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Godwin said in an email Thursday to Air Force Times. He is in prison pending a preliminary hearing slated for Feb. 12.
