FRENCH VALLEY, CALIF. — A Southern California Marine who pocket-dialed his girlfriend’s cellphone and recorded himself savagely beating her has been sentenced to 14 years to life in prison.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says 34-year-old Anthony Rollins was sentenced last week for domestic violence, torture and witness intimidation.
Prosecutors say Rollins suspected his girlfriend was unfaithful and attacked her in their Murrieta home in December 2012.
She suffered skull fractures, hearing loss, bleeding on the brain and amnesia — ultimately remembering little of the attack.
However, Rollins inadvertently dialed her cellphone and her voicemail recorded a minute of the assault.
She discovered the recording weeks later and called police.
During the trial, five of Rollins’ previous girlfriends testified that he also had abused them but he wasn’t charged with attacking them.
