A senior enlisted adviser in the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade, at Fort Bragg, N.C., has been suspended pending the outcome of a criminal investigation into alleged misconduct, officials said.

U.S. Army Special Operations Command, which oversees the unit, has not named the soldier but confirmed he is a command sergeant major with the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade.

The brigade consists of more than 1,200 soldiers, including a headquarters and five battalions, which means the suspended official could be one of six people.

“In order to protect the integrity of this investigation and the rights of all involved, no further information is being released at this time,” USASOC said in a statement.

Army Criminal Investigation Command agents are leading the investigation.

The brigade, which broke ground on a new headquarters last fall, partners its teams with State Department country teams, government and nongovernmental organizations at all levels and with local populations, often conducting government stability operations. Brigade teams may work for months or years in remote areas of a host nation.
