HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MICH. — Officials say a body has been found at Selfridge Air National Guard Base northeast of Detroit, prompting a brief lockdown at the facility.
The 127th Wing Public Affairs says the body of a man believed to be in his 30s was discovered Thursday morning by a military member on the west side of the base in in Macomb County's Harrison Township, outside of a base building.
Authorities say the cause of death is under investigation. The base says no identification was found on the body.
State police are leading the investigation with assistance from security personnel at the base, which is home to the Michigan Air National Guard.
The base says a brief lockdown was issued after the body was found. Operations are back to normal at the base.
