A QF-4 targeting aircraft overran a runway Tuesday at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., causing damage to the aircraft. Investigators say there was no danger to the public or a nearby highway.

The incident occurred about 3:40 p.m., shortly after the targeting drone landed following a routine training mission. The aircraft, which can be unmanned, was flying with a crew of two, who are being evaluated by medical staff, the base said in a news release.

Tyndall officials said the aircraft is intact and nearby roads were not closed. The crash is under investigation.

The QF-4 is a converted F-4 Phantom used for weapons training.

On July 13, 2013, an unmanned QF-4 crashed shortly following takeoff at the base, causing a large fire and closing nearby Highway 98 for about 24 hours.
