If you’re not convinced Border Patrol is right for you, consider a law-enforcement career with one of these federal agencies:

FBI — Defends against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats and enforces federal criminal laws.

Drug Enforcement Administration Enforces federal controlled-substance laws and supports programs to reduce controlled substances internationally.

U.S. Postal Inspection Service — Investigates criminal misuse of the mail system.

U.S. Marshals Service — Arrests federal fugitives, operates the Witness Protection Program and transports federal prisoners among other duties.

Federal Bureau of Prisons — Operates federal prisons and community-based facilities “to assist offenders in becoming law-abiding citizens.”

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — Enforces federal criminal laws and regulates the firearms and explosives industries.

U.S. Secret Service — Protects national and visiting foreign leaders and conducts criminal investigations.
