Holiday deployments

Anytime I’ve been deployed over the holidays, the harder people tried to make it seem festive, the more it made me realize I was away from home. I would rather just treat it like any other day, although a day in which the chow would be outstanding.

I’m going to have a Christmas in March when he gets back! I’m going to wrap the clothes that I bought him, wear my Santa hat, rent Christmas movies and make hot chocolate for him. Hopefully, this will give him a taste of what he’s been missing. I’ve even invited some of his friends to show up. I’m doing this with his family so it will be kind of a mixture of a welcome home party and a belated Christmas!

I’m a lance corporal with a green belt. I’m trying to get my brown belt, but there is no waiver for me. I don’t understand why I have to get promoted in order to better myself as a Marine. If the Marine Corps trusts me with equipment and a rifle, then obviously I'm responsible enough to handle a brown belt.
