JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune, N.C.-based Marine’s death in a nonhostile vehicle accident in Iraq is under investigation.

Lance Cpl. Bobby L. Twitty, 20, of Bedias, Texas, died Sunday in Anbar province, according to a Defense Department release.

Details, including whether anyone else was injured in the accident, could not be released pending the investigation, said 2nd Lt. Richard Ulsh, a 2nd Marine Logistics Group spokesman at Lejeune.

Twitty, with Combat Logistics Battalion 6, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, joined the Corps on Dec. 5, 2005. After training as a heavy equipment operator, he was assigned to CLB 6 in June 2006.

This was Twitty’s first deployment to Iraq, Ulsh said.
