Time running out to vote for Corps slogan
Posted : Tuesday Sep 25, 2007 16:53:20 EDT
Leathernecks have until Monday to vote in an Internet poll to immortalize the Marine Corps’ recruiting slogan, “The Few, The Proud, The Marines,” in a spot on the advertising industry’s version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame in New York City.
The Corps is vying for one of two spots on the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame, which consists of a plaque on a sidewalk between 49th and 50th streets in Manhattan, in a contest that includes the slogans for companies such as MTV, Taco Bell and the National Crime Prevention Authority.
The winners will be announced Sept. 26 as part of Advertising Week 2007, an advertising industry convention.
Other slogans competing with the Corps include the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority’s “What Happens Here, Stays Here”; the California Milk Process Board’s “Got Milk?”; and Nike’s “Just Do It.”
Past honorees include the Texas Department of Transportation’s “Don’t Mess with Texas” and Verizon’s “Can You Hear Me Now?”
Vote by logging onto the contest Web site.
