JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Hundreds of North Carolina-based Marines are heading to Iraq’s Anbar province this week.

About 250 members of 6th Marines left Camp Lejeune on Monday and will compose the headquarters of Regimental Combat Team-6, Multi National Force-West, according to a Marine Corps press release. Personnel with 8th Marines, scheduled to deploy Tuesday, will form the headquarters of Regimental Combat Team-8.

In Iraq, RCT-6 will be headquartered at Camp Ramadi; RCT-8 will set up at Al Asad air base.

Both units will support Iraqi and civil military authorities, the Corps said.
