Soccer star David Beckham got hit with an armful of Marine humor Monday.
According to published reports, Beckham “gasped in horror” as he shook a Royal Marine’s hand during an event arranged by British soccer team AC Milan — and the arm came off.
Beckham had been set up by Commando Ben McBean, who lost an arm and a leg in explosion in Afghanistan, according to The Sun, a London-based newspaper. The Marine howled, “My arm! My arm!” as Beckham found the prosthetic limb was no longer attached.
With onlookers laughing, Beckham cursed and laughed.
“I wasn’t expecting that,” The Sun reported he said.
McBean revealed he had pulled the same joke on another player, John Terry.
“The fake arm trick — it gets them every time,” McBean said.
