PADUCAH, Ky. — Police in a western Kentucky city have arrested an Illinois man on a theft charge after he allegedly impersonated a Marine to try to solicit money.
The Paducah Sun reports that Anthony H. Fairfield was charged with misdemeanor theft by deception after his arrest by Paducah police Thursday.
According to a police report, the 29-year-old man from Brookport, Ill., introduced himself as a Marine and tried to solicit money to return to Camp Lejeune, N.C.
The newspaper reports that it is the second time Fairfield has been accused of falsely representing himself as a Marine to obtain money. He faced identical charges in 2006.
