Lejeune Marine dies in Afghanistan

A North Carolina-based Marine was killed Sunday in Afghanistan, according to the Defense Department.
Lance Cpl. Nicholas J. Hand, 20, of Kansas City, Mo., died supporting combat operations in Helmand province. Hand was an assaultman assigned to Camp Lejeune’s 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines.
Hand joined the Corps in July 2007. He had deployed previously to Iraq from April to November 2008.
No other information was immediately available.
