Officials ID dead Lejeune Marine

Camp Lejeune officials have released the name of a Marine found dead in a base barracks early Nov. 13.

The death of Lance Cpl. Shawn O’Malley, 24, of Union, N.C., remains under investigation, though Marine officials say they do not suspect foul play, according to II Marine Expeditionary Force officials. Autopsy results are pending.

O’Malley was an anti-tank assaultman with 8th Marine Regiment. He joined the Corps in June 2005. He served a six-month tour in Iraq in 2006.

O’Malley is survived by his wife.
