A flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima will take place 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Marine Corps War memorial, located north of Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
The raising will begin at 10:17 a.m., coinciding with the first flag-raising on Mount Suribachi.
The ceremony will honor all Marines who fought during the pivotal World War II battle, as well as all the Marines killed in all wars, to whom the memorial is dedicated.
Veterans of Iwo Jima will be on hand for the event.
