Lejeune corporal killed in Helmand fighting

A North Carolina-based Marine died Sunday during combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

Cpl. Jonathan D. Porto, 26, of Largo, Fla., was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, based out of Camp Lejeune.

More information was not immediately available.
