A North Carolina-based Marine died Sunday as the result of a hostile incident in Afghanistan, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.
Lance Cpl. Anthony A. Dilisio, 20, of Macomb, Mich., was killed in Helmand province. He was a mortarman assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, from Camp Lejeune.
He joined the Marine Corps in August 2008 and deployed to Afghanistan in December 2009.
No additional information about the specific circumstances of his death was available.
