CLEVELAND — The recently identified remains of a Marine missing in action in Vietnam since 1966 have been flown to Ohio for burial.
The remains of Staff Sgt. Samuel Hewitt, who was 19 when he was reported missing, arrived Wednesday on a commercial flight at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
The remains were recently identified through dental records, and his family was notified in October.
His mother and sister, who now live in Medina, plan to bury him Friday at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman south of Cleveland.
Hewitt grew up in Koontz Lake, Ind., where he was honored at a Veteran’s Day school ceremony last week.
