WALTHAM, Mass. — A Lowell man on his way to participate in a Toys for Tot event has been arrested and accused of impersonating a Marine.

Police in Waltham say 41-year-old David Lebrun was wearing a Marine uniform with medals when he was pulled over by an officer on Saturday while driving to a restaurant that was collecting toys for needy children.

Lebrun was initially arrested on warrants related to past motor vehicle offenses, but police later determined that he was not authorized to wear a Marine uniform.

Lebrun was charged with wearing a military uniform without authorization and possession of military property without authorization. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.

The Toys for Tots program is administered by the Marine Corps Reserve.
