A U.S. Marine Corps recruiter accused of setting small fires at his workplace in Bismarck is charged in federal court.

Anthony DeGroot is charged with arson. Authorities say he started the fires at the armed forces recruiting station on the day after Christmas.

DeGroot pleaded not guilty at Wednesday's arraignment in Bismarck. He was released on a promise to appear in court.

Trial is set for Jan. 6 in Bismarck.

A defense attorney could not be reached for comment.
