A Sri Lankan woman fell to her death from a Marine's ninth-floor balcony in Bahrain this weekend on July 4th.

The 23-year-old woman was celebrating Independence Day with Marines at the Class Plaza Two residence in al-Juffair on Saturday. She was identified as Kudaliyanage Dona Nimesha Udari Gunasekera by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service Middle East field office, according to Stars and Stripes.

The incident is currently under investigation by the NCIS as well as Bahrain authorities, said Master Sgt. William Price, a spokesman for Marine Corps Forces Central Command. The Marines present at the time of the woman's death have cooperated fully with the investigation and were released immediately after providing voluntary statements, Price said. a Marine Corps Forces Central Command public affairs official confirmed.

Gunasekera, also known as "Candylina," was a swim instructor at the British School of Bahrain, according to Gulf Digital News.

Al-Juffair is a neighborhood of Manama, Bahrain and is home to the U.S. Navy's Naval Support Activity Bahrain, which supports U.S. naval operations throughout the region as well as American U.S. military and civilian personnel in Bahrain.

On May 16th, 21-year-old U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Devon Doyle also died after falling from a Manama hotel balcony.

That incident is still under investigation by the NCIS.
