Marine charged with kidnapping, raping woman near Camp Lejeune

A North Carolina Marine has been charged after allegedly kidnapping, then raping, a woman on Oct. 7.

Lance Cpl. Alec Urton, 23, was charged with felony second degree kidnapping, felony second degree forcible sex offense and misdemeanor discharge of a firearm, according to the Jacksonville Daily News.

The misdemeanor charge stemmed from an accusation that Urton discharged a Remington 870 shotgun in front of a Jacksonville, North Carolina, home prior to engaging in the alleged sexual offense with the woman, a resident of Wilmington, according to the Jacksonville Daily News.

NCIS took Urton into custody without incident, the report said.

At the time of the incident, Urton was serving as a flight equipment technician with the MCAS New River-based Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29, Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine spokesman 1st Lt. Sam Stephenson confirmed in the report.

Urton is currently being held in Onslow County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 18.
