Latest "veterans cemeteries" stories
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and cemetery welcome center reopened to the public this week after more than a year of limited access.
The new rules go into effect on May 26, less than a week before the holiday.
The Veterans' Memorial Preservation Act passed 17 years ago in response to vandalism at U.S. veterans cemeteries.
By taking over several roads south of the cemetery, site officials hope to be able to add 60,000 grave plots in coming years.
