A jury has convicted a San Jose gang member of murder in the shooting death of a former Marine and aspiring lawyer who was gunned down while playing pool in his garage with friends.

The Mercury News reported Wednesday that 27-year-old Michael Lucio Frausto faces a 210 year sentence when he returns to court in January.

After an eight-week trial, jurors took less than two days to convict Frausto for the 2010 killing of Albert Cobarrubias and the attempted murder of four of the victim's friends. Authorities say Frausto jumped out of a car and shot Cobarrubias twice before driving away.

The newspaper says Cobarrubias, who hoped to become a lawyer, volunteered regularly at a social advocacy center.
