Police are investigating the death of Marine Corps veteran Christopher Florez, who was killed trying to stop a carjacking in a Chicago suburb Sunday night, according to ABC 7 Chicago

Florez, 24, was with his girlfriend and her daughter when the three left the car running while renting a movie from an outdoor DVD rental box in Oak Park, when a man got into the car, the station reported. Florez ran to the car, reached through the window and grabbed the steering wheel. The car sped off, with Florez hanging on for several blocks until he was thrown into the street. An autopsy found he died of multiple blunt force injuries.

"A lot of people can say a lot of things, and say like, 'He should've left that car alone. You know, he shouldn't have tried to stop that guy,'" his older brother, Mike, told CBS Chicago. "The one trait that he has that I think I wish I had, to be honest, is he was fearless, you know?"

His brother has set up a  GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral arrangements.
