Marine Corps officials have confirmed that A Marine an Iowa recruiting office in Iowa does not appear to have been targeted by gunfire, and all personnel are accounted for, Marine officials confirmed Monday afternoon.
Police responded to reports of possible shooter near a Marine Corps recruiting office located at 710 E. Kimberly Rd. in Davenport at approximately 2 p.m.
"Current reports are that it appears to have been a shooting in a civilian/commercial facility next to the Marine Corps recruiting office," officials with Marine Corps Recruiting Command public affairs said in a statement. "All [Marine]MCRC personnel are accounted for and unharmed."
Local television station KWQC TV-6 reported that a witness in the recruiting center, about 80 miles southwest of Cedar Rapids, heard shots fired at a nearby law office, screaming and a gunman trying to reload his gun. A Marine recruiter told everyone to run, the station reported, and as the witness was running heard more gunfire.
Marine officials said they are closely monitoring the situation. "We are closely monitoring the developing situation in Davenport, Iowa," MCRC said. "We will provide further details as they are confirmed."
