A North Carolina Marine is definitely on track to earn the totally got dibs on the title of Best Dad Ever.
While gearing up for deployment, Staff Sgt. John York recently managed to frontload every holiday he’d miss with his 4four-year-old son into 10 days of leave before shipping out.
His wife Priscilla recorded each celebration to surprise him with a video compilation. Initially posted on YouTube, it went viral after ABC picked it up. Good Morning America’s Facebook posting alone has already racked up more than over 1.5 million views.
This will be York's third deployment, but the first since his son Bryson was born, and the two have an incredible bond, Priscilla told ABC.
The tight holiday grouping began by celebrating Mother's Day weekend, followed by Halloween. Before hitting the pavement for trick-or-treating with his son, decked out in a "Paw Patrol" costume, York prepped the neighborhood by handing out candy.
The Marine then coordinated with the North Pole for Santa to make an early Christmas run so Bryson could wake up with wrapped presents under their tree.
Their yuletide cheer was quickly followed by Bryson’s fourth 4th birthday party, just a few weeks out from the his actual date. They ate cake and took Bryson’s shiny red bicycle for a spin around the block.
Priscilla's video, told from Bryson's point of view, was an early Father's Day gift for York.
"I just want you to know I love you and whether you are away or home, you do the dad thing right," it concludes.
