15th Anniversary of the launch of Operation Iraqi Freedom
On March 19, 2003, President George W. Bush announced the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom and in the early hours of March 20, U.S. service members crossed the line of departure into Iraq. Over a dozen Military Times photojournalists and reporters were embedded with these troops and provided coverage from the frontlines.
