A sergeant major-select out of Camp Pendleton, California, is in jeopardy of losing his future promotion and maybe more following an arrest and two felony charges.

Military.com reported that Sgt. Maj.-select Jeremy Wayne King, with Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, was arrested by police from Temecula, California, on Nov. 17 and charged with two felonies.

The charges include assault with a deadly weapon and a count of terrorist threats, Military.com reported.

“The 1st Marine Division is aware of the arrest and charges against First Sgt Jeremy Wayne King,” said 1st Lt. Sam Banks, a Marine spokesman. “The arrest occurred off-base and the Marine Corps is cooperating with civil authorities regarding the matter and will await the court’s decision.”

King is a first sergeant with 1st Combat Engineer Battalion and has done several overseas deployments with the Corps, including a tour in Iraq.

Military.com reported King had been released from jail on bail on Nov 21 and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.
