NEW YORK — An Iraq War veteran who self-published a graphic novel based on his popular comic strip now has a book deal.
Little, Brown and Company announced Thursday that it has acquired Maximilian Uriarte's "The White Donkey: Terminal Lance" and will release it April 19. The book is based on the satirical Terminal Lance comic strip created in 2010 by Uriarte and will feature a pair of Marines in Iraq.
Uriarte told Marine Corps Times that everyone with Little, Brown and Company have been "really phenomenal."
"Everyone is really excited about bringing The White Donkey to a broader audience," he said.
The 29-year-old Uriarte had two deployments with the Marines in Iraq, the second one ending in 2010.
This is the second project the pair have created about the unit.

The tournament marks the first time the Marine Corps will stand up an esports team to compete against other military branches’ teams in the newly-released “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War."
Hanks also penned the screenplay for the film.
